The
AARC Board of Directors are unpaid volunteers who are willing
to be available for consultation, advice, or information in their
area of expertise, as a way to promote astrological research and
the
mission and programs of AARC. Each AARC Board Member is listed on
the AARC Internet page with information regarding areas of expertise.
Anyone can request participation as an AARC Board Member, and will
be accepted as an AARC Board Member if approved by a majority of
the AARC Board Members and a majority of the Avalon Board of Directors.
The only required position specified as being required on the Board
is the President of the AARC Board of Directors. The President oversees
AARC operations. The selection of the President of the AARC Board
must be approved by the Avalon President, a majority of the Avalon
Board
of Directors, and a majority of the AARC Board of Directors. The
AARC President, with approval from the Avalon Board of Directors
and a
majority of the AARC Board, may also invite people to become members
of the AARC Board of Directors. Specific functions of AARC, such
as website maintenance, hosting of seminars, etc. are provided on
a volunteer
basis by AARC Board Members, members, and contributors. In order
to ensure efficient operation of AARC, there may be no more than
12 people
on the AARC Board of Directors at any time. The minimum number of
members of the Board is 3.
Important
decisions of the AARC, such as when conferences will be held, etc.
are made by a majority
of the AARC Board of Directors
AND a majority of The Avalon School of Astrology Board of Directors.
Any policy, program, decision, responsibility, or appointment, or
status of any person that is voted by a majority of the Avalon Board
and the AARC Board will be changed in accordance with this vote. Daily
operations of the AARC are conducted by AARC Board Members, AARC Members,
AARC Participants, AARC Donors, and Friends of AARC.
AARC
Members are people who wish to receive news from AARC in periodic
e-mails that are sent to e-mails
regarding upcoming AARC Conferences,
new additions to the website and other news. AARC members agree with
the mission of AARC and the principles of AARC as laid out in this
document.
Friends
of AARC are people who have participated in some manner with AARC
or wish to be affiliated with
AARC in some way, or wish
to express support for AARC, but do not wish to receive e-mail news
and other information from AARC. Like AARC members, friends of AARC
agree with the mission of AARC and the principles of AARC. The distinction
of members and friends is simply that members are on the AARC e-mail
list are kept advised of AARC activities, and friends are not.
AARC
Donors are people who have donated money, assets, or materials to
AARC. AARC is a center within
The Avalon School of Astrology, and
is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible. AARC
Donors may or may not also be AARC board members, members, or friends
of AARC.
Financial
Support and Future Direction of AARC: There are no dues for participating
in AARC as an AARC
board member, member, donor,
or friend. The major sources of revenue are donations and fees paid
by attendees of the research seminars. AARC is a center within The
Avalon School of Astrology, a non-profit organization, and donations
are tax deductible. As part of a non-profit educational institution
that strives to remain free from biases from commercial activities,
AARC does not sell products, although AARC may recommend sources of
books, software, education, and other services and products, and AARC
may announce or provide information regarding services and products
of AARC members. Given the limited sources of revenus for AARC, the
expansion and development of AARC is dependent primarily on volunteer
effort and donations. If AARC does attract sufficient donations to
expand its operations, then the AARC Board and the Avalon Board can
judiciously and wisely lay out plans for improved services, such as
larger conferences, and the establishment of more intensive research
activities, such as, for example, increased astrological research
library facilities at the Avalon school and greater accessibility
to these facilities. If progress is made in establishing objective
validity of astrology, AARC could become a pioneering organization
for a new cutting edge area of knowledge and information. In short,
the immediate goals of AARC are modest and the budget is modest, but
the long-term potential of AARC is enormous, and AARC's scope of activities
could grow enormously through either larger donations, association
with academic and professional organizations, or establishing the
objective validity of astrology through research. The Avalon Board
will keep abreast of developments and respond to changing circumstances.
Avalon members will no doubt provide a constant stream of valuable
information and insights as astrology evolves and develops in the
21st century.
AARC
may pay for various services, such as printing of materials, web
site maintenance, conference
speakers, etc. within the budget
limitations and goals of the AARC.
AARC
will hold an annual astrological research conference. Current plans
are for the conference to be
held at The Avalon School of Astrology.
Plans are for the conference to begin with a dinner on Friday evening
and be held from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The specific
theme and presentations of each conference will be approved by a majority
of AARC Members and a majority of the Avalon Board of Directors. Details
of these annual research conferences can change to fit the needs of
the attendees, as voted on my the AARC Board and the Avalon Board.
AARC
provides articles, information, links, contact information, announcements,
and other information
on the Internet that can be helpful
to anyone interested in the subject of the objective validity of astrology
and/or in conducting their own research. The website will be either
part of the Avalon website and/or have its own URL, depending on the
budge of AARC and the decisions of the AARC Board of Directors and
the Avalon Board of Directors.
AARC may develop additional programs or services as voted by a
majority of the AARC Board and the Avalon Board. These additional
programs or services will help fulfill the mission of AARC.
AARC strives at all times to be a public service that furthers
the understanding of the relationship of astrology to the sciences,
and specifically in the determination of what objective validity,
if any, astrology has. AARC adheres to all ethical and behavioral
regulations of The Avalon School of Astrology as provided in the Avalon
catalogue. AARC strives to be fair in all of its dealings and to promote
the betterment of humankind through greater understanding of astrology.
AARC supports and cooperates with other organizations and individuals
who advance the understanding of the objective validity of astrology
in an ethical and constructive manner.
